Prosperity Tool: The Focus Wheel
Prosperity is more than just money. It refers to a fullness of experience, a connection to unlimited Source energy. One obstacle to experiencing prosperity is our own thinking. We get stuck in fear, imagining lack and disaster instead of success and prosperity and all the good that we actually want. Here’s a technique to help us get out of that mindset. It was developed by Abraham/Hicks and described in full in the book Ask and It Is Given.
Make a large circle on a big piece of paper. In the center make a smaller circle about 2 inches in diameter. In that circle write what it is that you want to create. (You should know what you don’t want, but keep that out of your circle.) Outside the little circle you will be writing 12 thoughts “around the clock”. The idea is to write thoughts that you both can believe and feel encouraged by.
The author uses the analogy of a merry go round. If it’s going really fast, you can’t get on or you’ll fall off trying. But if it moves more slowly you can hop right on. So it is with thoughts on the focus wheel. Some thoughts are vibrating so fast they’ll throw us off. Let me illustrate how this can work.
Let’s say the desired creation is to have at least twice as much money in the checking account as monthly bills.Write that in the center circle. Next focus on that center thought until you think of a thought that would take you in that direction. “I can make twice as much money just by deciding to do so” is a thought that would make me fall off the merry go round. I wouldn’t believe it. So that’s not a good thought. “My husband might get a raise” is a positive thought but it might still kick me off the merry go round. Maybe I don’t believe he will get one, or am mad that he didn’t get one yet, or am thinking I should get one. If a thought makes me feel bad, regardless of whether it should, I can’t get on the wheel.
A better thought for me might be something like “Last month we actually made more money than we anticipated.” Good, that gets me on the wheel and I write it down in the 12:00 spot. I focus on that, letting myself feel the good feeling that thought generates until an even better thought occurs to me. Maybe “Even though I worry, I somehow end up with money left over every month.” So I write that in the 1:00 spot. Still focusing on those positive thoughts, I come up with another one. “I’ve frequently had the experience of writing down a goal and then somehow making it happen.” 2:00. “I believe I can make more money than I make right now.” 3:00. And so it goes until you’ve made it all the way around the clock. Your goal is to spend at least 17 seconds on positive feelings. More is even better!
Just as prosperity isn’t limited to money, this tool is not restricted to monetary goals. In the center could be a statement like “I want to feel lean and fit” or “I want to enjoy time with my family more often” or “I want a job that I love going to each day”.
In contrast, we so often focus on what we don’t want, that feels so real to us, such as “There’s never enough money” or “I’m too fat” or “My kids never call” or “I hate my job” etc….. We put feeling into these thoughts and so we keep the situations going that match the emotional energy of the thoughts we are thinking. We want to reverse this process by focusing on what we do want and thinking thoughts that will help us imagine the possibility.
Try it for yourself and write to me about what you experience, if you like. I’d love to hear!
